“I just want them to be happy.” Agreed!

They never will b/c Neptune and Uranus are gay and Saturn is like, an antihero, so they don’t get happy endings

It’s a bit of a toss up though, I mean they’re supposed to be the strongest soldiers, but then as warriors rather than guardians, I guess they put their lives in danger more often, right?

I appreciate the 2001 Summer musical because it implies that the outers continue to hang out in the future. So far I think this is the only continuity where we see Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn in Crystal Tokyo

On that note, watching the 90s anime again I think it implies that those three have died by the time the others get to the future. King Endymion says something like “many guardians fell defending the city” but clearly NQS is still alive, Pluto is still alive, and the four inners are still alive (albeit using their life force to guard the palace) so that that leaves three…

its from a while back, but I think the Outers call Mamoru “King” because they apparently don’t know much about the past lives of anyone besides Usagi (who is “Princess”), so probably all their intel is from Pluto trying to keep the plot from R relevant still. The musicals do it too, so I Figure its respectful and kind of playful to show they’re ‘down’

Ooh, that makes sense! Especially because Pluto probably never stops talking about how awesome Small Lady and her royal family are. Alternately, it could be a title of incredible disrespect.

“Hey, can you stop by the florist and pick up some roses for me?”

“Of course, O Illustrious King of the Destined Future Crystal Tokyo.”

“Haruka, can you not”

Michiru would be more subtle about it and occasionally call him “King” in place of his name before turning away and flipping her hair. Mamoru would know he’s been insulted, but he wouldn’t know how.
