I haven’t talked about my own asshole children in a while SO:

While we were watching Sing the other day, @hakbot pointed out a crucial detail we had overlooked about Modern!AU for Silverwood which is the fact that Anthem’s parents are still alive.

Which means the whole Silverwood clan has to deal with them. A couple of snooty, rich white people from the 30s/40s.

Now, they definitely wouldn’t have been happy when he married Ithea because A) she’s gutter trash and B) she’s not human white *gasp* but honestly she’s so good at schmoozing and manipulating people that I’m pretty sure they came to an accord at some point. (the fact that this accord usually has to do with them staying as far away from each other as possible is a non-issue. She can play nice when she has to.)

But the children.

Charlie, who lives in his parent’s mother-in-law suite and is super flamboyant, and who dropped out of college to shack up with some weird dude he met in a skeezy gay bar. Please imagine Charlie trying to impress his grandparents.

Cyan and Gavin, it goes without saying, are the favored grandchildren. We all saw that coming. At least until Cyan leaves college with a super good business degree and then becomes an actress instead. Maybe not so good.

So Gavin is the favored grandchild.

Kaite is fine. A little too rough and tumble, but okay. Until she inevitable gets caught making out with one of their guest’s daughters in the backyard at some snooty get together and then, again, not so good.

The twins, acceptable. Weird, but acceptable. They can talk about science and philosophy! Anthem’s parents can be thankful that at least some of their grandchildren are classically educated.

Junior…..is he even in this AU I have no idea. Sorry, Junior.

Ro though. At first, Ro is such a good girl. So polite, so proper. Like a less flashy version of Cyan. But then Ro drops out of college during freshman year after one of her professors knocks her up and runs away to, essentially, join a commune. The scandal.

We’d talked about Ithea hosting family holidays before, and that’s hilarious enough, getting all of the siblings and their various partners and children in the same room as adults, how could it not be hilarious?

But imagining the family dinners that Anthem’s parents host, oh my god. It gets so much better to picture all of these idiots in someone else’s home, with their families, surrounded by all of these guests who are actually Rich and Proper and have well-behaved, traditional families.

I can only imagine Tony being introduced to Anthem’s parents and I’m dying. The more I think about it the funnier it gets.

tc-doherty:

One last hurrah for Femslash February, a few couple portraits. Some are from novels, some are from silly personal playgrounds. There are at least four more couples I can think of off the top of my head, but I got tired.

Story is in the captains if you’re interested.

Just some gay art, please enjoy!

The original lesbians.

I have no doubt that, at this point, our magical lion-horse shapeshifters and their many over-dramatic trials and tribulations are considered pretty ridiculous. But the story meant a lot to me, and gave me comfort at a time when I was struggling quite a bit with depression and suicidal thoughts, it was one of the things that kept me going.

And, at a time when I was still Very Much In The Closet and dealing with my sexuality, Onica was the first time I allowed myself to make a lesbian character.

So, I love her. I love them. I love this story.
