I don’t draw fanart except for a cute lesbian ship that has literally no basis in reality other than “this is what I want” also it was a good chance to do more ridiculous clothing design and then hate myself while coloring. Yay! (jk I most have fun)

I tried to make Lilina’s hair teal b/c her mom is Lyn and that was a comedy of errors because I don’t actually have a teal marker. In the end I ended up using colored pencil to try and fix it oops.

lanonima:

Wedding Lyn, a mix of Scythian fashion, fake fantasy Europe sensibilities, and the Lano Twist.

Scythians wore a lot of gold (they even sewed gold plaques to their clothing which is rad but not included here) and a lot of animal motifs! I ran through a handful of choices but in the end I settled on eagle for Lyn.

Men and women generally both wore tunics over pants, sometimes with a long jacket over, and heavy ornamental belts. But this is a wedding so that means a dress, right? I didn’t have the actual colors of green I wanted for the underdress but I think it turned out alright.

Also like…I’m way less extreme than I make myself out to be on tumblr (I just like to scream but I’m actually a pretty chill and logical person) so if any of you DO want to come bitch or vent or just talk things out I mean feel free?

My ask box and messenger are always open. And I’m always up for talking FE no matter what game it is so. There’s that!

So here’s the thing about Fire Emblem:

Hawk got Blazing Sword after it came out, lent it to me, and I talked about it so obsessively that two different people got it for me for Christmas so that should tell you something about how little my obsession has decreased in thirteen fucking years

Before that I had a GBA and like, three games that I played pretty often. But everyone (read: family) was surprised that I didn’t end up as a gamer. And I really did not. There’s some other games I play and enjoy, but it takes a lot for me to try new things and even more to get invested in them.

Fire Emblem is just…it’s the one thing that makes me excited about games. There’s something about the types of characters, the types of stories, the types of challenges that is exactly what I want out of a game and I don’t want anything else. Playing Blazing Sword basically ruined other video games for me forever, and my interest in them never regained the ground it lost.

I’ll complain about how Awakening is barely FE and how Fates is a garbage game, but I’m still going to support IntSys until the day I die, or until they stop making FE games, whichever comes first. Because Awakening is stupidly fun and Conquest does have interesting levels and also Soleil (how I wish it did not so I could hate it without a caveat) and they’re still Fire Emblem.

Warriors is pissing me off, but I still think it looks fun and I still have it on pre-order because it’s still FE.

I’ve got rude and often unpopular opinions like how I think Eliwood is a manipulative asshole and people shouldn’t like him the way they do and I will post those on here but there’s one thing everyone can be sure of and that is the fact that I love Fire Emblem. More than any other game series, and probably more than a lot of other things in my life. I love Fire Emblem, and no matter how badly it does I’m still going to be there buying it. And I don’t care if you’ve been around since the beginning or got into it with Fates, if you play classic or casual, I’m never gonna start shit.

If people start shit with me I’ll fight back, but we’re all in this to enjoy Fire Emblem together and I think that’s pretty neat.

Echoes:

Thoughts (no spoilers)

I’ve never played Gaiden so this was all new to me but it’s a truly fantastic game! There are some things I don’t like about it (Faye’s entire existence, that scene with Fernand and Mathilda, the fact that almost everyone is in unrequited love, the general dearth of supports) but those are minor things, really.

When I first began the game I thought it was fun, but I wasn’t sure it had the same kind of replay value that Blazing Sword does for me, but now I’ve changed my mind. Thanks to the dungeon system (which is fun!) it’s a bit cumbersome so I’ll never replay it with the same ease that I do Blazing Sword or Tellius or Awakening but I absolutely will replay it.

I love sooo many of the characters, especially the way they’re written – I’ve talked about that before but the character writing in this game is top notch. Of course the full voice acting brings this game together but even playing on silent the voices and personalities are so strong. The plot is typical to FE but the writing is definitely superior to some other offerings in the series so, well done there.

The voice acting is incredible, the battles are fun and challenging, the characters are amazing, the art and design are beautiful, and the soundtrack is great. Music-wise the last few games have been weak. And while I can’t actually remember the songs like I could with the GBA games, the music does fit really well and was integral to my enjoyment.

I like Alm and Celica having different world views, I think it was handled pretty well. Not like, perfect, but what is? I love having two armies, being able to switch stories when I want to.

I really like the mechanics in this game, I think they work perfectly. I love mages but I love the HP system for casting spells, I like the bow-range for archers, I like pretty much all the little things. I love that they talk to each other in battles, I love the battle animations, I love, I love, I love this game!

It’s weird that it feels nostalgic for me b/c I never played the original but it really does feel like an older FE game. After the last what, 4 games, I was sticking with the series as always but we could all feel it going downhill. But this is the best game to come out since Radiant Dawn. It’s as good as Tellius, as good as Blazing Sword.

I’m honestly blown away by the quality and overall enjoyment factor that this game brought to the table. It did remind me of the first time I played the older games, actually being eager to play and keep playing, playing until my system literally ran out of battery time and time again. Like the first time playing Tellius and just…cracking up over the dialogue and all of these lovable idiots.

This game is so good I kind of want to cry, honestly. I hope that IntSys can continue to bring this kind of quality to their games, because this really reaffirmed everything about why I love Fire Emblem in the first place.

So @hakbot and I were talking about needing an evil healer to round out our villain teams but I can’t think of anyone except that one priest who tried to betray you (Shadow Dragon, I think?) and the asshole bishop who murdered Lucius’ parents.

Are there any actual named villain healers who could get a grand hero battle? Maybe I’m just not thinking of them?

JUST TO BE AN ASS FE asks 11-13

11. Sexiest Character: Hmmmmmmmmmm like…3 weeks ago I would have said like Petrine or Ursula and those girls are both still good BUT Sonya from Echoes is really sexy too! (also Naesala because I’m trash)

12. Character I want as my sibling: A tough one! Maybe Pent? He seems good. He has fun sometimes but also likes to lock himself away with research so I’d have time to myself and we could talk about books and magic theory!

13. Characters I would want as my parents: there’s only one right answer to this question and it’s Greil and Titania. I probably wouldn’t have nearly so many emotional issues and I’d know how to do things like cook and destroy grown men with a Giant Axe

If we’re gate-keeping my Fave character from Thracia was Tania but it’s been like three years and I don’t remember who my least fave was.

Leif is pretty enjoyable as a lord though, I like him a lot!
