There’s so many good facts about Cu Chulainn, honestly.

I mean even going beyond the Pretty Rad story about how he got his name there’s a lot to talk about

One of my faves is the story of him and Emer (according to my first exposure to him) he decided early on that he would have no wife but her and so he went to her and proposed but also he was like, 8.

So she turned him down gently, saying she wouldn’t be able to marry him until he had proven himself as a warrior and therefore proved that he could provide for her

which he promptly does, and then they get married and it seems to be a pretty enduring love story for a hero. (Of course there’s that whole thing with Fand, but again my first source handled it a bit different and even if not – who can say no to a fairy queen?)
