He’s all wrapped up in that masculine familial pride bullshit which I just don’t like. A great character role for a tragedy, the sort of hinge everything revolves around his inability to change or, you know, think for himself. When someone like that is in charge it always spells disaster.

I appreciate his role in the story but I don’t like him as a person very much.

He was too much of a coward to be the person he wanted to be, so he loses a lot of points for that.

When it comes to theater I love tragedies! And Rudolf is a great tragic figure – passionate but sensitive, a little dumb and a lot homoerotic. How can I say no to that?

I kind of wish we got more time with him in the musical but you work with what you get. 

A good character with a very good death scene. I’m just taking some points off for the infamous “cat” comment. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?
