That looks like the most unnecessarily flashy block position in existence

Italians.

Actually a lot of the Bolognese poses are kind of flashy but in a way that doesn’t take as much time or excess movement as you would think (they’re big on not only fighting but also looking elegant while you do it)

really though, how else would you block a downward stroke? it’s not that weird ahaha

I love how like four of the books apparently involve everyone being so oblivious due to their own nonsense that the nameless prince accumulates spell bits with almost no difficulty

FOR REAL

well to be fair he had so much trouble with Nives that it was probably common sense not to interfere with the others directly but to distract them instead

the worst part is that by then they all knew (except for Kalea and Diamante, whose spells were stolen before Gunnar got to them) that the nameless prince was around and what he wanted because Gunnar was going from kingdom to kingdom warning them

just that they were all so wrapped up in their personal dramas that they couldn’t solve those problems and guard the spell verses at the same time

but actually one of the things I really like about this series is how much they struggle and actually lose against their enemies like it makes the stakes so much more dramatic because they almost never win the first (or second or third…) time they encounter the villain.

I’m not sure how it will go from here on out – the first 6 books had one villain and the last 7 have 7 villains so I’m not sure if we’ll do one per book or if they’ll end up fighting ALL of them in the final book.
