So I know I talk about Fire Emblem all the time, but I want to take a moment to recognize another game that I love: Evolution Worlds
It’s a fun little turn-based RPG for GameCube that my mom got me for Easter one year and probably bought at like, Menards or something because I’ve never seen it in a legitimate game establishment. It is, to my knowledge, the only game where the cut scene graphics are WORSE than the normal game graphics.
The monsters are a weird combination: communist lobsters, tiki-men, giant floating viruses, rats with gay 90s earrings….you really never know what sort of weird thing you’ll find. The sound mixing is occasionally…existentially terrifying…but the music is in generally pretty rad.
Aside from that, it has Linear:
who is a precious snowflake and she fights with a frying pan which is hilariously satisfying.
There’s also Pepper:
who’s fashion sense is amazing and who likes to dungeon crawl in heels. Hey, I won’t judge.
You can also bring along the main character’s butler Gre if you want to and he’s pretty amazing too.
There’s a third female character named Chain who I never really got behind but she does make this game a 3/2 female/male split which is nice!!!
Honestly the best team would be if you could leave Mag behind and just do Linear, Pepper, and Gre, but we can’t always have what we want.
If you ever see it floating around at like, Goodwill or whatever, I recommend it. You will be consistently surprised by how bizarre they’re willing to go.
