there’s this really stupid metaphor in these books about magic “tainting” people and I really. Don’t Like It. Tea stop that.
It reminds me uncomfortably of the “abstinence only” education I got in school, especially the stupid duct tape metaphor they used to try and make girls feel like shit about themselves so they wouldn’t have sex.
This idea that once you’ve come into contact with magic once you’re tainted by it forever and it makes you easier to be put under other spells later is so goddamn terrible and stupid
Mai Nominata has a terrible habit of looming over people while they’re in their beds
oh ho ho ho! The plot thickens and it might be, just might be that I’ve been right all along about Mai Nominata being the prince’s mom.
