Okay, look. If I were Mai Nominata, who can teleport anywhere at the drop of a hat, and I wanted to take over this kingdom from the people who currently hold it.
I mean.
I get this is a series for children but literally.
why does she not just teleport into all of their rooms and slit their throats while they’re sleeping? why not teleport into their rooms and put them into comas? why not turn them into her servants?
like the idea that she has to fight them the way that she does is absolutely ludicrous and completely unbelievable and it makes the stakes so low because you know she’s not actually going to do anything even remotely serious.
I’m sorry but there’s literally no way for me to take this seriously.
Like I’m not going to say that magic making you weak to magic couldn’t be interesting. But you’d really have to be a lot more careful than Tea Stilton to do it in a way that doesn’t seem like a metaphor for “sexual purity”

Because yes. Back in the day magic users were all just going around being super susceptible to each other and would definitely not have had a problem with that or sought out defensive solutions
Yeah, exactly. It makes perfect sense that the more contact with magic you have, the weaker you are and there’s nothing you can do about it.
