I really want to talk about this:

I don’t think it’s  handled as well as it could be but essentially. The magic without color was wild magic and it needed a host and the host it picked was the queen because she came from a bloodline of powerful mages.

The way it tricked her was by trapping her in illusions of her son in the arms of another woman (presumably her husband too) making her think she had been replaced, which hurt so badly that she didn’t resist getting rid of her emotions.

And after that it was easy for the magic to seal away her memories. BUT.

I think it’s really fascinating that she was still obsessed with the prince and with the king even after that. In a much worse way, of course, but there was something about them that drew her.

And I still think that her taking in the witches that she did could also have something to do with her missing son as well.

Now the king just found her shawl on her balcony after she disappeared and while it doesn’t say this, I assume he thought that she must have jumped. He says he looked for her but told the court that she was ill and eventually, too much time had passed so he just told everyone that she died.

Is this why he became the evil king in the first place? Was he ever a good king? Meaning that literally this entire series has spawned from this one single moment?

Also it all takes place over like 15 years which is hilarious to me because they keep talking about it as if it’s ancient history and at that point it’s really not lol.
